ISO 9001:2015 Smithers Quality LogoISO 9001:2015 is the most updated standard of its kind. This certification focuses on quality management systems, performance, and assists companies in developing a management system that aligns quality with their wider business strategy.

Coming Soon: Marian Locations Will Soon be IATF 16949:2016 Certified

Since opening in 1954, Marian has provided high-quality solutions to customers across a number of industries. Looking to continue to meet the rigorous requirements of automotive manufacturers, Marian locations in Indianapolis, Chicago, Fort Worth, and Europe are all working toward their IATF 16949:2016 certification- a new certification specific to the automotive industry.

According to a press release from the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), “this new certification supersedes and replaces the current ISO/TS 16949 and defines the requirements of a quality management system for organizations in the automotive industry. It [is] aligned with and refer[s] to the most recent version of ISO’s quality management systems standard, ISO 9001:2015.” Going hand-in-hand with ISO 9001:2015, the IATF 16949:2016 certification is an excellent complement and proves our commitment to providing the highest quality.

Marian Suzhou and Marian Forth Worth have successfully completed all  certification requirements, and are officially IATF 16949:2016 certified. Our Quest for Quality

Marian Inc focuses on quality and consistency when making parts for its customersAt Marian, quality is of the utmost importance. We consistently hold tighter dimensional tolerances than industry standards and can demonstrate our capabilities where our competitors often cannot.  We also work closely with our customers to understand the demands and requirements of their application, and can design tooling that will create part stability within the tight tolerance required for part function.

Marian manufactures many of the machines in our 20,000 square foot machine shop, offering unmatched customization capabilities.  Our equipment, manufacturing processes, and quality standards help us maintain our status as an industry leader.  Using advanced machines and inspection instruments such as this new Keyence vision system, we’re able to collect Statistical Process Control (SPC) data more efficiently and dependably throughout our production process.

We also use the Keyence inspection systems to collect data for PPAP submissions and have the ability to easily and efficiently export data in formats to satisfy customers’ systems.

Another bullet in our Quality Statement at Marian is “Satisfy Our Customers.”  We make quality of the parts we produce a top priority by ensuring the part’s dimensional characteristics are well within the targeted limits. We want our customers to feel when they choose Marian, they are choosing the best.

MARIAN INC. BREAKS GROUND ON NEW ADDITION TO HEADQUARTERS

We are excited to announce that we have begun a significant expansion to our Indianapolis headquarters. August 14, 2017 marked the ground breaking ceremonies as William Witchger and other Marian Inc. executives came together with the project leaders from Shiel Sexton, the general contractor selected for the construction, to mark the occasion.

Marian Executive Team

The new facility will extend the building and offices to the south at 1011 E. St. Clair Street in Indianapolis and will bring Marian’s tool and machine shop staff and all machine building processes under one roof. Since 1993 Marian has operated multiple machine shop operations on the city’s near-east side. According to Mr. Witchger, “This addition will allow us to consolidate those operations into one location making us more efficient and quickly effective.”

“As many of our good customers know and have seen when visiting any of our 10 production facilities around the world, we proudly produce many of our own die cutting machines and other converting equipment. We manufacture creative and unique processes that enables us to produce finished parts that offer a solution to our customers. Through our machine design and build capabilities we strive to offer our customers flexible solutions to complex manufacturing issues in their products and assembly processes.”

Construction of the 12,000 square foot expansion is being provided by Shiel Sexton, a well-known and highly respected general contractor in the Midwest and the Southeast. Headquartered in Indianapolis with regional offices in Charlotte NC, Shiel Sexton’s work includes: office complexes (Stanley Security Solutions, Delta Faucet), health care centers (Sydney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, IU Health West Hospital), higher education buildings (University of South Carolina, University of Notre Dame, Butler University, Indiana University), and industrial plants and offices (Rolls-Royce, Fed-Ex), to name a few. Lead by project manager David Taylor, work has begun in earnest at Marian and plans are that the building will be “under roof” before cold weather sets in.

Marian project leader Greg Crafts is excited to be part of the progress and says, “This new expansion is one of many milestones in our 63 years of business in Indianapolis and is perfectly aligned with our quality policy: satisfy our customers, continuously improve, and create a better work environment.”

]]> Smooth and coordinated succession planning is integral to the continued strength of all organizations, and perhaps more so to a family owned business.  Here at Marian, the Witchger family has taken great care to ensure our leadership is in good hands for a bright and prosperous future.  Gene Witchger, who has been the President of Marian, Inc. since 2012 and been with the company since 1994, has decided to step down as President and pass the reigns to his cousin, William Witchger, effective in May 2017.  Gene is not leaving the company.  He will continue to support Marian and our customers with involvement in key customer driven projects as a leader for engineering and process development.  His transition from the role of President with William will be ongoing and without interruptions.  As President, Gene has been an extremely focused and tireless leader, respected by customers, and loved by employees.  With his new role Gene will also hope to spend more time with family and in community service.

William Witchger (son of Bill Witchger, Marian’s Chairman) has been Vice President of Operations at Marian Inc. since returning from China in 2012.  William moved to Shenzhen China in 2009 and opened Marian’s manufacturing operations and office there.  Under his leadership our Shenzhen operation grew from 1 employee (him) to more than 1800 when he returned in 2012.  A graduate of Notre Dame University, William worked for IBM in Chicago and then a startup company, Endeca, (that was then acquired by Oracle) before joining Marian in 2008 as Manager of IT and Business Development.

“Gene has provided leadership with strong business ethics, integrity in every decision, respect for all employees, and tireless efforts on behalf of our customers,” said Chairman Bill Witchger.  “And William brings these same qualities to the task with renewed energy and eagerness to see our businesses continue to grow significantly around the world.  Along with Brian Witchger as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Marian is fortunate to have the next generation of leadership so well prepared to move our company forward.”
